HOW TO GET THERE

Fly back to Bangkok

To get to Koh Samet you have to take a passenger boat, speed boat or wooden boat from Ban Phe Pier. Ban Phe Pier is around 2 and a half hours drive from Bangkok. You can take a taxi or mini bus.

Drive to Ban Phe Pier

Easiest and quickest option: Grab any taxi they will take you there and average cost is about 1500 -2500 baht ($80-$125) for taxi for 4pax depends on how well you bargain.

Can book private vans 8ppl $200.

Cheap and longest option: Mini bus – average cost 200 bath ($10-$15)pp

Take transfer from airport to Ekkamai bus station and there are Hourly minibuses that run to Ban Phe from 07:00 to 18:00.

Then by boat from Ban Phe pier

Phe Pier: Located a short walk west of Nuan Thip Pier, Phe Pier (the sign says “Tarua Phe”) also services large ferries but is best known as the base of the White Shark and Black Pearl speedboat companies. White Shark departs for Samet at 10:00, 12:00 and 14:00, while Black Pearl departs at 09:00 and 13:00. Expect to pay 200 baht ($10) to Haad Sai Kaew.

  • By high-speed ferry or speedboat takes 10–15 minutes - cost 200–500 per person ($10-$25)

  • Wooden Passenger ferry boat – 40 mins - 50–100 baht per person ($2-$5)

National park fee

You need to pay a (national park) entry fee upon arrival.

The price is 200 baht for foreign adults ($10), 100 baht for children ($5)

Beware that unscrupulous travel agents have tried to sell 200-baht “national park” tickets to travellers. This is a scam: Only buy a ticket from a park official once you’re on Ko Samet.

ACCOMODATION & ACTIVITIES

Haad Sai Kaew

Koh Samet’s most popular beach, Haad Sai Kaew is the centre of activity on the island. While the large crowds and countless beachside bars and restaurants make it lively, Haad Sai Kaew’s white sand and calm water makes it a good choice for sunbathing and swimming.
